Blue Sky Ecological Reserve is a 700-acre canyon preserve managed by the City of Poway, open daily from sunrise to sunset and led by trained nature docents.
The Blue Sky Ecological Reserve spans 700 acres of canyon land in central Poway, protecting native habitat and providing a venue for nature education. The City of Poway Parks & Recreation Department manages the reserve, and trained volunteer docents lead interpretive hikes and educational programs throughout the year. The reserve opens daily at sunrise and closes at sunset, with hours adjusted seasonally—from 6:30 a.m. to sunset during June through October, and sunrise to sunset the remainder of the year.
The reserve draws hundreds of visitors annually who hike through canyons, observe native plant and animal species, and learn about the ecology of North County San Diego.
